LETCHWORTH SCALE MODEL CLUB
The Club has been meeting in the locality of Letchworth and North Hertfordshire for well over 20 years. We organise and run the successful and popular Model Showcase every year. Following the success of moving SHOWCASE 2009 to an earlier time in the year, we will return to Plinston Hall, Letchworth on July 18th for SHOWCASE 2010.
We are a small, friendly club which meets on the third Wednesday of each month. Meetings start at 7:30pm until about 10:30pm. From September 2009 we will be returning to our previous venue of the FOUR EMBLEMS CLUB in the centre of Letchworth. We have a wide variety of interests and skills encompassing many facets of design, construction, modification, painting and collecting. The richness of our group comes from this diversity.
The meeting is generally a themed meeting with club members or guests demonstrating a wide range of modelling techniques and collections but with plenty of time to chat. Activities include painting, conversions, collecting, restoring, sculpting and research.
As a new venture this year, we are meeting on the first Wednesday of the Month at Bedwell Community Centre, Stevenage - sharing the room with the Stevenage Battlegroup. Hopefully this will give those modellers and collectors in the south of our region a regular opportunity to meet and share the interest. Time from 7:30pm. Come along and see.
We encourage all types of model making including model soldiers, toy soldiers, flats (zinnfigur), military and civilian vehicles, aircraft and boats. We also cater for those with an interest in military history, dioramas and wargame figures.
Through our members, we have connections with the British Model Soldier Society (BMSS), the British Flat Figure Society (BFFS), the Basement and SHOGUN AG.
New members and visitors are always welcome. Membership to the club is open to the novice and also to the older more experienced model maker. Why not pay us a visit - the first year's membership is free! We look forward to hearing from you and introducing you to this exciting and absorbing hobby.
